đżThe Exhaustion You Won't Admit To
Because âjust tiredâ stopped being accurate a long time ago.
â¨âThe â7 Faces of Exhaustionâ˘â Summer Series
kicks off now!ââ¨
Whether youâve been walking with me for weeks or youâre just finding your seat at this table, welcome.
This is where the map begins before we go deep in naming the kind of âtiredâ thatâs exhausting you and stealing your joy!
Itâs summer.
The sun is out.
The calendar is (supposedly) lighter.
Everyone around you is posting beach pictures and talking about how ârefreshedâ they feel.
And you? Youâre sitting here wondering why youâre still exhausted.
Not just sleepy. Not just âI could use a vacation.â Something deeper. Something that a week at the beach wouldnât fix even if you had one.
You smile when people ask how youâre doing.
You say âIâm good, just busy.â
And you move on, because admitting the truth feels like too much work.
But hereâs the truth you wonât say out loud: youâre not just tired. Youâre depleted. And youâve been running on fumes so long, youâve forgotten what full feels like.
Sweet friend, if thatâs you, stay with me today. Because Iâve been right where you are. And what God showed me about exhaustion changed everything.

What Jesus Actually Said
âCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.â
â Matthew 11:28-29
Notice what Jesus didnât say.
He didnât say, âFigure it out.â He didnât say, âTry harder.â He didnât say, âPush through until the season changes.â
He said come. As you are. Weary. Burdened. Running on empty. Come.
And then He said something radical: rest for your souls. Not just your body. Your soul. Because the exhaustion youâre carrying? Itâs not just physical. It never was.

When Your Feelings Tell You OtherwiseâŚ
The lies exhaustion whispers are convincing because they sound like responsibility:
âIf I slow down, everything falls apart.â
âOther women handle more than this without complaining.â
âI should be grateful, not exhausted.â
âResting feels selfish when so many people need me.â
âItâs summer. I should feel better by now.â
I know those whispers. Iâve believed every single one of them. Some of them lived in my head rent-free for years.
But hereâs what Iâve learned through The 7 Faces of Exhaustion⢠system: Until you can name what kind of tired you actually are, no amount of sleep, vacation, or âself-careâ will fix it.
đŞ Physical exhaustion needs rest.
đ Emotional exhaustion needs safety.
đ§ Mental exhaustion needs silence.
đď¸ Spiritual exhaustion needs reconnection.
đĽ Social exhaustion needs boundaries.
𤲠Compassion fatigue needs permission to stop carrying everyone.
đŻ Purpose exhaustion needs meaning.
Theyâre all real.
Theyâre all valid.
And they all require something different.
The reason youâve been throwing solutions at your tired and nothing sticks?
You might be treating the wrong face.

The Deeper Truth
Hereâs what nobody tells you about exhaustion: it layers.
Physical tiredness makes you emotionally fragile.
Emotional depletion disconnects you from God.
Spiritual dryness makes everything feel pointless.
And around it goes.
Elijah knew this. After his greatest victory on Mount Carmel, he ran. He collapsed under a tree and told God heâd had enough. And what did God do?
He didnât lecture him.
He didnât give him a five-step plan.
âHe let him sleep. He fed him. He met him in the quiet.â
â 1 Kings 19:4-8
God didnât treat Elijahâs spiritual crisis with spiritual answers alone. He started with the body.
Rest.
Food.
Then presence.
God understood that exhaustion is layered, and healing has to meet you where the depletion actually lives.
Thatâs what The 7 Faces of Exhaustion⢠is really about. Not just identifying that youâre tired. Identifying where youâre tired. Because thatâs where healing begins.
đż đż đż
What This Means for YouâŚ
So what does this look like in real life?
It looks like giving yourself permission:
Permission to name the real exhaustion, not just the acceptable one.
Permission to set a boundary without writing a five-paragraph apology.
Permission to rest before you earn it.
Here are five things I want you to try this week:
1. Name it.
Which of the 7 Faces of Exhaustion⢠is loudest right now? Physical? Emotional? Mental? Spiritual? Social? Compassion Fatigue? Purpose Exhaustion?
Say it out loud.
Write it down.
Naming it takes away its power to hide.
2. Stop apologizing for being tired.
You donât owe anyone an explanation for running on empty. Exhaustion is not a character flaw. Itâs information. Treat it that way.
3. Set one boundary this week.
Just one. It doesnât have to be dramatic. âIâm not available after 8 PM.â âI need to sit this one out.â âI love you, but I canât carry this for you right now.â One fence. Thatâs all.
4. Rest before you break.
Donât wait until you collapse to take a breath. Rest is not the reward for finishing everything. Itâs the fuel for doing anything at all.
5. Let God meet you in the tired.
Open your hands. Open your mouth. Tell Him the truth. He already knows, but something shifts when you say it. âGod, Iâm exhausted. I donât know which kind. But Iâm bringing all of it to You.â
đż đż đż
Remember This Truth
âYour exhaustion is not evidence that youâre failing.
Itâs evidence that youâve been giving!â
And the God who sees every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every âyesâ you said when you had nothing left? Heâs not asking you to give more. Heâs asking you to come. As you are. Weary and burdened.
Because you canât heal what you canât name. And you canât name what you wonât admit.
So say it. Out loud. Even if only to God:
âIâm exhausted. And I donât want to pretend anymore.â
Thatâs not defeat.
Thatâs the beginning of joy! đđź

đŁ âWhich face do you think is loudest for you right now? Physical? Emotional? Mental? Spiritual? Social? Compassion Fatigue? Purpose? Or is it a mix?â
You donât have to have it all figured out. You just have to be honest with yourself. Your honesty might be exactly what another woman needs to hear today.
Reply or leave a comment. Because the moment you name it, you stop carrying it alone.
And you were never meant to carry it alone. đ
Joyfully yours,
A Gentle Note: Iâm not a physician, therapist, or licensed counselor. Iâm a woman of faith whoâs walked through exhaustion and found her way back to joy. What I share here comes from my own journey and the wisdom of Scripture, not medical advice. If youâre experiencing ongoing fatigue or mental health struggles, please reach out to a trusted healthcare provider or emergency agency. What I offer is encouragement from one whoâs been there, and a reminder that youâre not alone.đ
